Cottage Feast food section

As the han­dling edi­tor for Cottage Life’s food con­tent, I rec­og­nized in 2013 that our recipe fea­tures (a col­lec­tion of recipes on a sin­gle theme, such as break­fasts) were los­ing impact. I devel­oped a new food sec­tion for the mag­a­zine. It would have fewer recipes but more tech­nique, food prod­uct reviews, and kitchen equip­ment guides. More fre­quent beer and wine con­tent proved pop­u­lar with read­ers and adver­tis­ers, and a reg­u­lar bar­be­cue page enhanced the magazine’s posi­tion as the expert grilling source in Canada.
